Ballroom Dance and Social Etiquette

Course Description:  Students in grades 3 -5 will learn proper social etiquette and ballroom dance in a fun, semi-formal setting.   Social Etiquette portion of the course will include welcoming behaviors, proper introductions, common courtesies, verbal and non-verbal communication, host and guest responsibilities, and social eating manners.  Ballroom dance instruction will include Waltz, Foxtrot, Swing, and Salsa.  Refreshments provided.

          National Dance Council of America

Executive Etiquette Consultant:  Patricia Persson, President, Hobby Hall, LLC

          Certified by the International School of Protocol

Dress Code: As recommended by the National Dance Council of America

                Boys:     Trousers:  Black or dark blue (no shorts or jeans)

Shirt:  Plain white long sleeved collared shirt only

Tie:  Long or bow (properly tied)

Socks:  Black or dark blue

Shoes:  Loafers or dress shoes (no sneakers or flip flops)

                                Hair combed.  Nails clean and trimmed.

                Girls:     Skirt with top or simple dress.  The length of skirt must not be shorter than 2 inches above the

                                                knee cap and no longer than 1 inch below the knee

Necklines:  Boat, high neck, v-neck, sweetheart, “peter pan” collar are allowed

Sleeves:  Long, short, elbow length, cap, puff (sorry, no spaghetti straps for this course)

                                Shoes: Heel height not to exceed 1.5 inches – blocked heel style only

                                Socks:  White ankle socks or flesh colored pantyhose must be worn

                                No jewelry.  No makeup

                                Hair neatly combed and pulled back away from face
